Falvey’s Pharmacy – Cork City
Falvey’s Pharmacy is located in the historical Victorian Quarter on the junction of both Coburg and Bridge street. The Victorian Quarter derives its name from the Victorian architecture that historically housed crafts people, merchants and traders. Today the area is home to an eclectic range of businesses, restaurants, bars, entertainment venues and shops.
At the heart of the Victorian Quarter is its people. A community that embraces both visitors and locals alike. We are proud to be a part of this community.
At our core, we believe that we are custodians of a tradition of excellence in care that came before us in the area. In 2019, Ciaran O’Connor was trusted by the Gerard Falvey to continue his duty of care to the area after the acquisition of Falvey’s pharmacy. This is a responsibility that we take very seriously.
The building itself dates from 1843, but the Pharmacy has been in continuous existence on this site since 1821 when the first register of rates paid was recorded here. The pharmacy was set up by John James Ryan Apothecary and he in turn passed the business to Edward Brady Apothecary in 1842. The business was taken over by John Murphy Pharmaceutical Chemist in 1891 – having qualified in 1880. The Falvey’s purchased the pharmacy in 1948 and the name continues to be synonymous with the area.
Falvey’s continues to grow and develop in our location on the junction of both Coburg and Bridge street.
We take pride in offering our clientele the very best service in health and well-being, high-end beauty products and unique giftware.
